
Policy Concerning Cannabis Use
The Temple of Higher Consciousness affirms that all members are individually responsible for understanding and complying with the laws and regulations applicable within their respective jurisdictions. Nothing in the teachings, practices, publications, or activities of the Temple shall be interpreted as encouraging or directing any person to violate applicable law. The Temple of Higher Consciousness does not advocate or condone the use of cannabis by minors, or in any state or locality where it is prohibited by law.
Religious Freedom Statement
The Temple of Higher Consciousness affirms that the pursuit of spiritual awareness and the elevation of consciousness are fundamental aspects of human freedom. In accordance with its sincerely held beliefs, the Temple recognizes cannabis as a sacred substance which, when used reverently and responsibly, may serve as an aid to contemplation, spiritual reflection, and the expansion of consciousness. The Temple affirms that any sacramental use of cannabis by its members is intended solely for spiritual purposes and not for recreation, excess, or abuse. Such use is to be approached with mindfulness, moderation, and respect for both the individual and the broader community. At the same time, the Temple of Higher Consciousness fully acknowledges and respects the authority of civil law. The Temple does not require, direct, or encourage any individual to engage in conduct that violates applicable local, state, or federal laws. All members are expected to act in accordance with the laws governing their respective jurisdictions. The Temple further affirms that participation in its spiritual practices is voluntary and inclusive. The use of cannabis is not a requirement for membership, spiritual standing, or participation in the Temple. Individuals who choose not to use cannabis are equally valued and respected within the community. In all matters, the Temple of Higher Consciousness is guided by the principles of Love, Light, and Truth, and seeks to foster a path of personal awakening that is peaceful, lawful, and respectful of the rights and beliefs of others.
